Today I reflect on all that happened 9 years ago today to our country. I feel thankful for all the bravery shown by so many then and now. I feel patriotic to all that we went through as a country and stood strong together. I feel the sadness I felt when we went to war, knowing it was going to be a long journey and that so many would lose their life in that journey in the name of Freedom.

Today I remember the fear of not knowing where my sister was, or many of her friends that I knew when she and so many worked at American Airlines. I remember her inconsolable sadness at the loss of friends and co-workers. I remember wondering if my family that lives in NY was ok, I remember the panic at school that day where I was a teacher and all the parents picking up their children and keeping them close, everyones fear was..."Are we next?", I remember quiet in the days following. It felt like the United States in all her glory fell silent forever. But slowly and surely she came back and today I celebrate and honor all of those who have their lives so that we can live in Freedom. Today, I'm taking the time to reflect and remember that horrible day 9 years ago and I'm giving thanks for all I have today and I will always Remember and Never Forget.
